Rock-climbing guide to Polish Jura area.

SokolicaJura Krakowsko-Czestochowska is one of the best climbing areas in Poland. It is full of many different rock formations. You can find here valleys with rocks hidden in leafy forests, but also rocks on hilltops where you can see a beautiful view.

Jura is a region 160km long From Krakow to Wielun and up to 40km wide. All limestone rocks were made in Jurassic Period that's why the region is called "Jura". It's southern part differs from the northern one.

The northern part is rich in solitary limestone rocks nearby Ogrodzieniec and Olsztyn. Sometimes they group on hills like Rzedkowice, Skaly Zegarowe or Gora Zborow. The southern part called Ojcowski Plateau has another characteristics. You can find here valleys with streams, and slopes are made of limestone. Here you will find the highest rock prepared for climbing – Sokolica in Bedkowska Valley. Interesting part in Krakow region is Garb Tenczynski. All climbing sites are easily available from city of Krakow where you can stay during rest days.
In Jura region there is about 900 caves. Some of them are available for tourists, some only for speleologists.

Main areas like Bedkowska or Kobylanska Valleys are printed and available in climbing shops in Krakow, but the newest area of Garb Tenczynski hasn't been printed yet.
